Escape From The Afraid of Public Speaking

2024

I found that I always feel very unconfident when presenting my work to others. I think it's because I worry too much about how others will judge me, and I get overly nervous about public speaking. Therefore, I want to use this project as an opportunity to build my confidence and overcome my fear of public speaking. I found a style of speaking that I really admire — Julian Treasure's TED Talk, "How to Speak So That People Want to Listen." I chose this speech because I think his body language is excellent. He chest out and confident, maintains good posture, and interacts well with the audience — all of which I currently lack and hope to learn. So I started imitating his speech. I mimicked his clothing, body language, and script, trying hard to make my own speech resemble his. To improve my fluency, I practiced and rehearsed over 40 times, recording each attempt on video. I discovered that one of the most effective ways to reduce nervousness before speaking is through extensive practice — building muscle memory. I edited the entire process into a video to document my growth.

来自Julian treasure的TED演讲《如何演讲才能让人愿意倾听》(How to speak so that people want to listen)。
